Product Information

The Hepple estate is a sort of Gin Eden. It lies in the wild and remote Northumberland National Park, home to four of the UK's cleanest rivers, its darkest skies and some of its wooliest, most charming people. Water of great purity rises from deep within the sandstone hills that surround the distillery. As well as providing the water, these springs sustain a tremendous variety of aromatic plants. Including the ancient juniper from which the team pick the young green berries so unique to Hepple Gin, but also the stands of Sweet Gale (or Bog Myrtle) by the burns, the Douglas Fir in the woods and the lovage and blackcurrant in the Hepple garden.

Douglas Fir Vodka makes use of the needles of the Douglas fir tree, which handily grows on the grounds of the Hepple Estate in Northumberland, which is also where the distillation takes place. The needles are harvested, dried and prepared before they are triple distilled with the vodka.

Tasting Notes

Nose: On the nose arrives an immediate fresh sweet and mellow Douglas Fir fragrance underlined with complimenting lemon citrus sour notes.

Palate: The initial taste is an unexpected explosion of sweet ripe melon continuing into tropical fruit joined with undertones of grape fruit skins. The mouth feel is rich, tingly and luscious.

Finish: Pine, melon and grapefruit sings out the long and lingering mouthfeel with bright sweet freshness.
